Our marks, criterion by criterion
Price per GB
3.7Prices in euros, taxes included, no conversion. Well placed on zones: 10 GB over 7 days in Western Europe (14 countries) for €7.92, 50 GB over 30 days for €26.00, 50 GB over 30 days in the United States for €30.40. Pricier on Europe Zone2 (10 GB over 7 days for €17.60) and on unlimited plans (Japan 30 days for €56.00).
Coverage
2.617 countries and 13 zones in the esimrat catalogue, which is little: East Asia, North America and Turkey are served, but France, Spain, Italy and Germany cannot be bought alone, they go through a Europe zone (37 or 17 countries, or 14 Western European ones). No carrier named: the pages only say the eSIM roams on partner carriers.
App
1.9No app for this eSIM. After purchase, an email from mail@codeselling.app gives a key to redeem on a redemption page (email, key, captcha) before the QR code arrives in a second email. The product page advertises in-app data tracking, but its FAQ says the balance can only be checked with the service team.
Support
3.5Online chat advertised 24/7, pre-sale email service@glocalme.com and after-sale email service@ucloudlink.com (the team that also tracks eSIM balances), two US phone numbers. Nasdaq-listed group, returns address in France (Suresnes) for the European store. Trustpilot reviews often name agents by first name, a good sign.
Transparency
2.9The country list of each zone is written on the product page and prices include taxes. The rest is vague: no carrier or network generation per plan, no published usage rule for the "unlimited" plans (the FAQ only says speed is not limited as long as data remains), and a 30-day validity from purchase that only shows in a tab.
Flexibility
2.2Fixed grid (1, 5, 7, 10, 20 or 50 GB, unlimited from 3 to 30 days), no top-up: a used-up plan is replaced by a new purchase. The plan must be used within 30 days of ordering and activates online at the destination. The eSIM can be reinstalled as long as the QR code or the plan is valid.
Technical note
An overview of GlocalMe's performance across 6 criteria
How we score
This score is eSIMrat's own, not an average of customer reviews. It covers six criteria we assess ourselves from the catalogue's real coverage, the prices we record, and test purchases and installs. We earn a commission on sales made through our links: it changes neither the score nor the order of our rankings, which stay sorted by price per GB.
The eSIMrat verdict
GlocalMe is the consumer brand of uCloudlink, a Nasdaq-listed Hong Kong group known for its travel Wi-Fi hotspots. Its eSIM sells in euros, taxes included, on a European store, with well-placed zones (10 GB over 7 days in Western Europe for €7.92, 50 GB over 30 days in the United States for €30.40) and unlimited plans from 3 to 30 days in Japan, Korea, Turkey or Europe. The limits are clear: 17 countries only, no France, Spain, Italy or Germany eSIM on its own, no carrier named, no app (key then QR code by email, balance on request to the service team), no top-up and a plan to use within 30 days of purchase. The 4.4 out of 5 Trustpilot rating is mostly about the Wi-Fi hotspots.

How to install your eSIM with GlocalMe
Buy your plan
Order on eu.glocalme.com, in euros. Pick the destination or zone (the country list sits under "Coverage" on the product page) then the plan in the "Data Package" menu. Double-check the email address you enter: it is the one that receives the activation key.
Pick your destination
Choose your destination and your data plan.
Scan the QR code
After payment, an email from mail@codeselling.app contains a key. Open the redemption page it points to, enter your email, the key and the captcha: the QR code arrives in a second email. Scan it in the phone's cellular settings, ideally before leaving and on Wi-Fi.
Get connected
On arrival, select the GlocalMe eSIM for mobile data and turn roaming on: the plan activates online at the destination. It must be used within 30 days of ordering. To know your usage, write to service@ucloudlink.com: the brand has no app for this eSIM.
If something goes wrong
Check that your phone supports eSIM (iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later) and is carrier-unlocked. Make sure you have a stable Internet connection during the install. If the problem persists, contact GlocalMe support with your order number.
Toggle Airplane mode, check that the GlocalMe eSIM is selected for mobile data and that roaming is on for that line: the eSIM works by roaming on partner carriers. Also check that your country is in the "Coverage" list of the zone you bought and that 30 days since ordering have not passed. Then the site's chat (24/7) or service@ucloudlink.com.
Look at per-app usage in your phone's settings to spot the hungry apps. Turn off automatic updates and high-resolution video playback. Your remaining data shows in your GlocalMe account, or in its app when there is one.
The QR code does not arrive directly: the first email (sender mail@codeselling.app) contains a key to redeem on the redemption page, the QR code comes in a second email. Check your spam folder and the address entered at checkout, then contact service@glocalme.com with your order number.

Rick could instantly provide the reason: those devices with 3G signaling won't be working in Japan anymore. He also gave me helpful links for upgrade options and helped me with eSIM activation.

Frequently asked questions
For a week in Europe, the Western Europe zone (14 countries) with 10 GB over 7 days costs €7.92, and the Europe Zone2 zone (17 countries) €17.60 for the same volume. In Japan, 10 GB over 7 days is €12.00 and 7-day unlimited €20.00. In the United States, 10 GB over 7 days for €12.80, 50 GB over 30 days for €30.40. France, Spain, Italy and Germany are not sold alone: you go through a Europe zone.
It depends on the plan: most travel eSIMs allow tethering, some cap or exclude it. The plan page on GlocalMe's site states it, so read it before paying.
An eSIM works on most smartphones released after 2019: iPhone XS and later, Samsung Galaxy S20 and later, Google Pixel 3 and later. Your phone must be carrier-unlocked. Our eSIM-compatible phones page lists the models.
Yes. Most recent smartphones handle a physical SIM (calls, texts, your number) and an eSIM from GlocalMe (mobile data) side by side. You keep your usual number and use the eSIM for the Internet.
The European store's refund policy is written for parcels: return within 30 days of an unused item in its packaging, and a 14-day cooling-off period in the European Union. Nothing is written for an eSIM. Before ordering, ask the site's chat; afterwards, write to service@glocalme.com with your order number.
A travel eSIM gives you ordinary Internet access. Any restrictions (China, Iran) come from the network of the country you visit, and the plan page says so when the provider documents them.
No. The product page says so: "this product does not support recharging". A used-up or expired plan is replaced by buying a new eSIM.
