Best eSIM for Turkey in 2026: 6 providers compared

Turkey sits outside the European Union: your home roaming does not apply there, and your carrier's roaming add-on quickly costs more than the flight. A Turkey eSIM installs before you leave, activates when you land in Istanbul or Antalya, and you keep your usual SIM for calls.

We put 6 providers through the same test: price per GB, network used on the ground (Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom), coverage on the coasts and in Anatolia, reliability, support, how easy activation is in the app and how flexible the data plans are. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

8.8/10

The lowest price per GB in this comparison (€0.57/GB), the Vodafone network with solid coverage across the country, plans from 1 to 50 GB and human support available around the clock. Esimzon matches it on price, the other four stand out on unlimited or multi-country plans.

How we ranked these eSIMs

Each eSIM is scored on six criteria, weighted for Turkey. Price per GB and network coverage weigh the most: the three Turkish carriers cover the coasts and the big cities very well, but the gap widens in central Anatolia, Cappadocia and on the roads between two sites. That is where the provider's network choice matters.

  • Price per GB25 %

Real cost per gigabyte on each provider's cheapest plan per GB, excluding one-off promotions.

  • Network coverage25 %

Signal in Istanbul and on the Aegean coast, but also in Cappadocia, Anatolia and on inland roads.

  • Reliability15 %

Connection stability, how serious the provider is and how consistent the service is from one trip to the next.

  • Support15 %

Channels, opening hours, response time and whether a human answers the chat.

  • Activation and app10 %

How easy the install is, how clear the app is and how well it tracks usage.

  • Plan flexibility10 %

Choice of data amounts, durations, unlimited, top-ups and multi-country plans.

On these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top with the lowest price per GB in the comparison (€0.57/GB), the Vodafone network and human support 24/7. Esimzon does just as well on price but loses points on the app, support and its 15 GB cap.

Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.

The Turkey eSIM ranking

The 6 eSIMs compared, from highest to lowest score. The price per GB is that of each provider's cheapest plan per gigabyte, usually a large 30-day plan: a small one-week plan costs more per GB.

eSIM or local SIM card in Turkey?

A tourist SIM card is sold at the airport or in Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom shops, against your passport. Tourist packs have gone up a lot in recent years and you queue on arrival. An eSIM is usually cheaper per GB, connects as you land and leaves your usual SIM in place for calls and texts.

Every plan in the Turkey comparator is ranked by price per GB and refreshed on every build. If you continue to North Africa, the same work exists for Morocco.

What to check on your phone

Two conditions: an eSIM-compatible model (iPhone XS and newer, Pixel, Galaxy S20 and later, among others) and a carrier-unlocked phone. Also check that the provider allows tethering if you plan to connect a laptop.

One Turkey-specific point: a foreign phone used for more than 120 days in the country must be registered with the BTK, otherwise it is blocked on Turkish networks. A tourist stay is not affected, and a travel eSIM changes nothing here.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Turkey in 2026?
On our criteria, voilà eSIM: the lowest price per GB in the comparison, the Vodafone network, plans up to 50 GB and human support 24/7. Esimzon is just as cheap but caps at 15 GB, and Airalo is the right pick for a regional Europe plan.
How much does an eSIM for Turkey cost?
Under €1 per GB at the two cheapest providers in the comparison, around €1 to €1.50 per GB at Ubigi, Airalo, Saily and Yesim on their large plans. A small one-week plan costs more per GB than a 30-day one.
Which network has the best coverage in Turkey?
Turkcell has the widest network, including Anatolia and the coasts. Vodafone offers good nationwide coverage with very fast speeds in cities, and Türk Telekom a solid network in tourist areas.
Does my home plan work in Turkey?
Turkey is outside the European Union, so outside included roaming. Depending on your carrier, data is billed per use or through a paid add-on, usually far more expensive per GB than a travel eSIM.
Do I need to register my phone in Turkey?
Only beyond 120 days in the country, with the BTK. For a holiday of a few weeks there is nothing to do, the eSIM works as soon as you land.
