Best eSIM Senegal 2026: comparison of the 5 providers

A week in Dakar and on Gorée Island, the Petite Côte between Saly and Joal-Fadiouth, Pink Lake, the Sine-Saloum Delta, Saint-Louis or Cap Skirring in Casamance, or a few weeks with family: in Senegal, you need internet for WhatsApp, Google Maps, taxis and ride-hailing apps, bookings, and video calls with France, where it is 2 hours ahead in summer and 1 hour ahead in winter. A Senegal eSIM is installed before departure, activates upon landing at Blaise-Diagne airport, and saves you a trip to the shop, where a local SIM is purchased using a passport. You keep your French SIM for calls and SMS from your bank.

Senegal is not a cheap destination for mobile data via travel eSIM: it costs three to five times the price per GB compared to Thailand or Malaysia, and there is only one serious unlimited offer. This is why it is important to choose wisely and to know which network is hidden behind each offer, between Orange, Yas (formerly Free Senegal), and Expresso. We scrutinized 5 providers using the same criteria: price per GB, network used on-site, coverage in Dakar, on the coast, and inland, support, simplicity of the application and activation, and the flexibility of the plans. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

Best eSIM Senegal 2026: comparison of the 5 providers
The eSIMrat verdict#1 of 5
voilà eSIM

voilà eSIM: the cheapest small plans, and 24/7 human support

7.5/10

The cheapest 1, 3, and 5 GB plans in the comparison, €4.20 for 1 GB for 7 days to cover your arrival, €3.45/GB on the 10 GB plan, the Yas network in 4G, "no blocked apps" written in black and white, unlimited tethering, a two-minute installation from an easy-to-use app, and human support available 24/7. Ubigi offers better pricing per GB beyond 10 GB and also uses Orange, but for a typical trip, it offers the most solid value for money based on our criteria.

How these eSIMs were ranked

Each eSIM is rated on six criteria, weighted for Senegal. The price per GB and network coverage carry the most weight, because data is expensive there and network quality changes significantly once you leave Dakar and the coast. Three operators matter: Orange (Sonatel), the market leader with more than half of all lines, Yas, the former Free Senegal rebranded in November 2024, and Expresso. The nPerf 2025 barometer shows Orange far ahead, with 64,212 points and an average download speed of 38.62 Mb/s, compared to 36,008 points for Yas and 27,801 for Expresso. Regarding 5G, only Orange utilizes it, in Dakar, Saint-Louis, Thiès, and a few other cities: the 5G licenses for Yas and Expresso were revoked in 2025, and no travel eSIM in this comparison has access to it. The difference therefore comes down to price, advertised network coverage, and plan flexibility. The ratings represent the editorial team's opinion, not an average of customer reviews.

  • Price per GB25 %

Cost per gigabyte based on the cheapest plan from each provider, excluding occasional promotions.

  • Network coverage25 %

Get coverage in Dakar, on the Petite Côte, in Saint-Louis, in Sine-Saloum, and in Casamance.

  • Reliability15 %

Connection stability, reliability of the partner operator, and provider reputation.

  • Support15 %

Available channels, hours, human or automated response, language.

  • Activation and application10 %

Simplicity of installation, clarity of the app, consumption tracking.

  • Flexible plans10 %

Choice of data volumes and durations, unlimited, top-ups, tethering.

Based on these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top thanks to its small and medium plans being the cheapest in the comparison, its app, its unlimited tethering, and its 24/7 human support, with a price per GB of €3.45/GB that places it second out of five. Ubigi leads on price per GB alone, on its 25 GB plan, and it is the only one to announce the Orange network: it is written in every product sheet. Ubigi therefore takes second place, by a very narrow margin. Airalo is third, on the Yas network, with short-term plans starting from 3 days.

Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.

The eSIM ranking for Senegal

The 5 eSIMs compared, from the highest rated to the lowest rated. The price per GB shown is that of the cheapest plan per gigabyte for each provider: a 25 GB 30-day plan from Ubigi, a 10 GB 30-day plan from voilà eSIM and Yesim, a 10 GB 7-day plan from Airalo, and a 3 GB plan from Saily. Note that the hierarchy reverses depending on the volume: for 1, 3, and 5 GB, voilà eSIM is the cheapest of the five; for 10 GB and above, it is Ubigi.

Every Senegal eSIM in detail

  1. voilà eSIM

    1. voilà eSIM

    7.5/10
    €3.45/GBYas (ex-Free)Data plans, 1 to 20 GB, 7 to 30 days

The cheapest 1, 3, and 5 GB plans, no blocked apps, unlimited tethering, 24/7 human support

voilà eSIM uses Yas, the former Free Senegal, the country's second-largest operator, via 3G and 4G, with strong coverage in Dakar and along the Atlantic coast. On its Senegal page, the brand states "no blocked apps": TikTok, ChatGPT, WhatsApp, Google Maps, and banking apps all work, and tethering is unlimited on all plans, which is practical when traveling with family using a single plan.

Regarding price, everything depends on the volume. For small and medium plans, voilà eSIM is the cheapest in the comparison: 1 GB for 7 days at €4.20, 3 GB for 15 days at €11.30, 5 GB for 30 days at €18.90. Beyond that, its 10 GB for 30 days at €34.50 results in €3.45/GB, the second lowest price per GB among the five, behind Ubigi, which sells 25 GB for €55. The code ESIMRAT gives a 5% discount, which can be found on the promo code page, further improving the value for money.

The rest makes the difference: the eSIM is installed in two minutes via an easy-to-use app, with top-ups and usage tracking in one place, the brand promises a refund in case of problems, and the human support responds 24/7 on WhatsApp, in several languages. The limitations: a single network, Yas, lower rated than Orange and weaker in inland areas, no 5G, no unlimited data, and a 20 GB plan at €70.80, which is expensive per GB.

    Pros

    • 1 GB at €4.20, 3 GB at €11.30, 5 GB at €18.90: the cheapest in the comparison
    • No blocked apps, unlimited tethering
    • Simple to install eSIM, easy-to-use app, 24/7 human support

    Cons

    • Second lowest price per GB out of five, behind Ubigi for plans over 10 GB
    • A single network, Yas, in 4G, no unlimited data
  2. Ubigi

    2. Ubigi

    7.3/10
€2.20/GBOrange and YasData plans from 1 to 25 GB, unlimited 7 days

The lowest price per GB, the only one to feature the Orange network, unlimited for 7 days

Ubigi belongs to Transatel, a subsidiary of the NTT group. It is the only one in the comparison to announce the Orange (Sonatel) network, the highest-rated in the country on nPerf, in addition to Yas, in 3G and 4G: the phone switches to whichever has the best signal, a real advantage outside of Dakar. It also shows the lowest price per GB: 25 GB for 30 days at €55, which is €2.20/GB, and a 10 GB 30-day plan at €29, more than €5 below voilà eSIM.

It is also the only one to sell unlimited weekly data, €44 for 7 days. Its prices are in euros, top-ups are done in the app, and support responds via ticket, in French. The limitations: smaller plans that are more expensive than voilà eSIM, €6 for 1 GB for 7 days and €14 for 3 GB for 15 days, no 5G, and support that is less responsive than a 24/7 human chat.

    Pros

    • The lowest price per GB, 25 GB for 30 days at €55
    • Orange and Yas networks announced, unlimited 7 days for €44, ticket support in French

    Cons

    • Small plans more expensive than voilà eSIM, €6 for 1 GB
    • No 5G, ticket-based support only
  3. Airalo

    3. Airalo

    6.7/10
    €3.75/GBYasData plans 1 to 10 GB, 3 to 30 days

Plans from 3 days, Yas network announced, complete app

Airalo, the market pioneer, announces the Yas network on its Senegal page, much like voilà eSIM. It is the only one to offer 3-day plans, 1 GB for €5.50 or 3 GB for €13, practical for a layover or a weekend in Dakar, and its application is the most comprehensive in the comparison, featuring top-ups and data usage tracking.

In terms of price per GB, it ranks third: €3.75/GB for its 10 GB 7-day plan at €37.50, and €40.50 for the same volume over 30 days, which is €6 more than voilà eSIM and €11.50 more than Ubigi. The limitations: nothing beyond 10 GB, no unlimited data, and support via chat, in English.

    Pros

    • 3-day plans, practical for a layover
    • Yas network announced, complete app with top-up feature

    Cons

    • 10 GB maximum, no unlimited data
    • More expensive than voilà eSIM and Ubigi for the same data volume
  4. Yesim

    4. Yesim

    6.3/10
€4.53/GBLocal networksData plans from 1 to 10 GB for 30 days, unlimited per day

Unlimited sold by the day, all plans valid for 30 days

Yesim sells all its plans for 30 days, from 1 GB for €5.90 to 10 GB for €45.30, which is €4.53/GB, the fourth lowest price per GB in the comparison. It is also the only one, along with Ubigi, to offer unlimited data, sold per day at €12 for 24 hours: useful for a remote work day or a long video call, but far too expensive beyond a few days.

The limitations: the provider does not announce the Senegalese carrier before purchase, its 3 to 10 GB plans cost between €4.50 and €4.90 per GB, and support is limited to chat. The eSIM can be reused from one trip to another, which matters if you return often.

    Pros

    • Unlimited per day, €12 for 24 hours
    • All plans valid for 30 days, reusable eSIM

    Cons

    • Senegalese operator not specified before purchase
    • High price per GB, chat support only
  5. Saily

    5. Saily

    5.8/10
€5.00/GBLocal networks1 GB and 3 GB data plans

Ad blocker and tracker blocker, 24/7 chat

Saily is the eSIM from Nord Security, the creators of NordVPN. The app is simple, featuring an ad and tracker blocker and built-in web protection, and the chat responds 24/7 in English. On the Wi-Fi of a hotel in Saly or a café in Dakar, it's a real plus.

In Senegal, its catalog is limited to two plans: 1 GB for 7 days at €5.99 and 3 GB for 30 days at €14.99, which is €5.00/GB, the highest price per GB in the comparison. No unlimited data, no large volumes, and the Senegalese operator is not announced before purchase: only recommended for a short trip if you already use the app elsewhere.

    Pros

    • Integrated ad and tracker blocker, 24/7 chat
    • Simple app, reusable eSIM

    Cons

    • The highest price per GB in the comparison
    • Only two plans, 3 GB maximum, carrier not specified

Travel eSIM, TEERU SIM, or local Orange eSIM?

On price alone, the local SIM wins. Since December 2025, Orange has been selling a SIM at the Blaise-Diagne airport shop intended for tourists and the diaspora, the TEERU SIM: 9,900 FCFA, or approximately €15.09, for 15 GB over 15 days including 5 GB in 5G, 600 minutes of national calls, and 500 SMS, according to Orange Sénégal. You must present your passport and your travel document, and, if your phone only has one slot, remove your French SIM for the duration of your stay.

A local eSIM also exists, but it isn't designed for a traveler who has just arrived: with Orange, it is purchased in the Max it app and paid for via Orange Money, which assumes you are already an Orange customer in Senegal; and with Yas, which sells one for 2,000 FCFA with 3 GB for 30 days, you have to visit a physical store. A travel eSIM costs more per GB, but it is purchased online, installed before departure, works as soon as you land, and lets you keep your French line for calls and SMS. Our rule: travel eSIM for a tourist stay or the first few days, TEERU SIM if you stay more than two weeks, consume a lot, or need a Senegalese number, which is essential for opening an Orange Money account.

What you need to check on your phone and your plan before buying

Two conditions: an eSIM-compatible phone that is carrier-unlocked. iPhones since the XR and Pixels, Galaxy S, and other recent models are; the full list is on our eSIM compatible phones page. A phone purchased with a subsidy from a French carrier may remain locked: request unlocking before you leave. And check your plan: Senegal is included starting from the Free 5G+ Plan, with 35 GB usable on-site, as detailed in our article on countries included with Free Mobile. For a Free subscriber, an eSIM is only useful beyond this allowance. With other carriers, check your destination area before you leave.

Once the eSIM is installed, keep your French SIM active for calls and SMS, disable its data roaming, and activate the Senegal eSIM upon arrival. Dakar, Thiès, Mbour, Saly, Saint-Louis, and Ziguinchor have good 4G coverage; the peanut basin, the southeast of the country, and part of Casamance still have villages without signal, regardless of the provider, and a Yas network drops out there sooner than Orange does. All plans from the Senegal comparator are sold by providers that display compatibility before purchase, and if you continue on to Gambia, Mauritania, or Morocco, multi-country plans are gathered on the Africa eSIM page, along with our best Morocco eSIM comparison.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Senegal?
Based on our criteria, voilà eSIM: the cheapest 1, 3, and 5 GB plans in the comparison, on the Yas network, "no blocked apps," unlimited tethering, an easy-to-install eSIM, an easy-to-use app, and 24/7 human support. Its price per GB, €3.45 for the 10 GB plan, is the second lowest out of five. Beyond 10 GB, or for the Orange network, Ubigi wins, with 25 GB at €55 on Orange and Yas.
How much does an eSIM for Senegal cost?
Between €2.20 and €5 per GB depending on the provider. With voilà eSIM, 1 GB for 7 days costs €4.20, 5 GB for 30 days costs €18.90, and 10 GB costs €34.50; with Ubigi, 10 GB costs €29 and 25 GB costs €55. Unlimited is rare: €44 for a week with Ubigi, €12 for a day with Yesim.
How much does an Orange eSIM cost in Senegal?
The local eSIM from Orange Sénégal is purchased in the Max it app and paid for via Orange Money, ranging from 500 FCFA for the basic offer to 9,900 FCFA for the TEERU offer. It is reserved for customers who already have an Orange Money account, so not for a tourist arriving in the country. For a traveler, the equivalent is the physical TEERU SIM, costing 9,900 FCFA at the Orange airport shop, or a travel eSIM that uses the Orange network, such as Ubigi.
How to get a Free eSIM in Senegal?
Free Senegal has been named Yas since November 2024. Yas sells a local eSIM for 2,000 FCFA with 3 GB valid for 30 days, available only in stores. Travel eSIMs from voilà eSIM and Airalo use this same Yas network and can be purchased online before departure. And if you are a Free Mobile subscriber in France, Senegal is included in the Free 5G+ plan, without needing to buy anything.
Is there 5G in Senegal with an eSIM?
Not with a travel eSIM. Only Orange operates 5G in Senegal, launched in June 2024 in Dakar and a few major cities; the 5G licenses for Yas and Expresso were revoked in 2025. The eSIMs in this comparison work on 3G and 4G, which is more than enough for WhatsApp, Google Maps, and video calls.
Which network has the best coverage in Senegal?
Orange, clearly. The nPerf 2025 barometer gives it 64,212 points compared to 36,008 for Yas and 27,801 for Expresso, with an average download speed of 38.62 Mb/s. Yas covers Dakar and the coast well, but less so the inland areas. Among travel eSIMs, only Ubigi announces Orange; voilà eSIM and Airalo use Yas, while Yesim and Saily do not specify their network before purchase.
