Best eSIM for Vietnam in 2026: 6 providers compared
Vietnam is one of the cheapest destinations in Asia per GB, as long as you do not roam on your home plan. A Vietnam eSIM installs before you leave, activates when you land in Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, and you keep your usual SIM for calls.
We ran 6 providers through the same grid: price per GB, network used on the ground (Viettel, Vinaphone or MobiFone), coverage along the coast, in the Mekong Delta and in the mountainous north, support, how simple the app and the activation are, and plan flexibility. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

voilà eSIM: the best coverage for Vietnam, three networks on one eSIM
Three networks instead of one, Viettel included, so the widest coverage in the comparison right up to the mountainous north, an eSIM that installs in two minutes and human support available 24/7, for €1.61/GB. Airalo and Esimzon do better on price per GB alone.
How we ranked these eSIMs
Each eSIM is scored on six criteria, weighted for Vietnam. Price per GB and network coverage weigh the most: prices vary fifteen-fold between providers, and coverage drops as soon as you leave the cities and the coast for the northern mountains, from Sapa to Ha Giang. Scores are the editorial team's opinion, not an average of customer reviews.
- Price per GB25 %
Cost per gigabyte on each provider's cheapest plan, excluding one-off promotions.
- Network coverage25 %
Getting signal in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, along the whole coast, in the Mekong Delta and in the mountainous north.
- Reliability15 %
Connection stability, seriousness of the partner carrier and the provider's reputation.
- Support15 %
Available channels, opening hours, human or automated answers.
- Activation and app10 %
How simple the install is, how clear the app is, data usage tracking.
- Plan flexibility10 %
Choice of volumes and durations, unlimited, top-ups, tethering.
On these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top thanks to its three networks, its clear app and its 24/7 human support, despite the highest price per GB in the comparison (€1.61/GB). Airalo takes second place with a price per GB half as high and the most complete app, Esimzon third with by far the lowest price per GB.
Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.
The ranking of eSIMs for Vietnam
The 6 eSIMs compared, from the highest to the lowest score. The price per GB shown is the cheapest per gigabyte at each provider, often a large 30-day plan: a small one-week plan costs more per GB. At Esimzon, it is a 200 GB plan.

Each Vietnam eSIM in detail
- 7.8/10

1. voilà eSIM
€1.61/GBViettel, MobiFone and VinaphoneData plans, 1 to 50 GBThree networks, 24/7 human support
voilà eSIM is the only offer in the comparison to announce all three Vietnamese networks: Viettel, by far the best rural coverage in the country, Vinaphone and MobiFone. The eSIM switches to whichever has signal, a real plus on the roads of Ha Giang, in the rice terraces of Sapa or on the islands of the delta, on 4G on most plans.
The rate drops to €1.61/GB on the 50 GB plan, which makes it the highest price per GB in this comparison, roughly twice Airalo's. Plans run from 1 to 50 GB over 7, 15, 30 or 180 days, with no commitment, and tethering is included. The ESIMRAT code gives 5% off, see the promo codes page.
It is the easiest offer to get started with: the eSIM installs in two minutes from an easy-to-use app, and human support answers 24/7, which matters with a five-hour time difference. That value for money, coverage included, earns it first place, even though Airalo and Esimzon do better on price per GB alone.
Pros
- Three networks including Viettel, the best coverage in the comparison
- Easy-to-install eSIM, easy-to-use app
- Human support, 24/7, tethering included
Cons
- The highest price per GB in the comparison
- No unlimited plan
- 7.6/10

2. Airalo
€0.89/GBVinaphone (VNPT)Data plans, daily unlimited, regional and globalPrice per GB half as high, complete app
Airalo, the market pioneer, states the carrier for each plan: in Vietnam, it is VNPT, the parent company of Vinaphone, the country's second network, with very good nationwide coverage and a strong signal along the whole coast, from Ha Long to Phu Quoc. Its best price per GB falls to €0.89/GB on the 50 GB plan, among the lowest in the comparison, and its 10 GB plan is one of the cheapest for a week.
Its strength remains the app, the most complete of the six, with top-ups and usage tracking, an unlimited offer billed per day, and an Asia plan that is handy if you chain Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand without changing eSIM. Support, in English, can be slow.
Pros
- Among the lowest prices per GB, Vinaphone network stated
- Complete app, built-in top-ups, daily unlimited
- Asia plan for a multi-country trip
Cons
- A single network, less extensive than Viettel in the mountainous north
- Support in English, sometimes slow
- 7.3/10

3. Esimzon
€0.09/GBWintel and MobiFoneData plans 30 to 200 GB, and unlimitedBy far the lowest price per GB
Esimzon is a prepaid reseller that plays the volume card: its lowest rate per GB is €0.09/GB on a 200 GB plan valid 30 days, a price no other provider comes close to. Its 50 GB plan over 7 days is also the cheapest in the comparison for a week. Plans run on Wintel, a local virtual operator, or on MobiFone, a good urban network.
The limits are elsewhere. No small plan: the catalog starts at 30 GB, prices are shown in dollars on its site (the euro follows the daily rate), support is by email or chat, in English, and activation goes through a QR code, without an app as polished as the leaders'.
Pros
- The lowest price per GB in the comparison, 200 GB plan
- The cheapest for a week with 50 GB
Cons
- No plan under 30 GB
- Prices in dollars, support in English by email or chat
- No proper usage-tracking app
- 7.2/10

4. Ubigi
€0.74/GBLocal networksOne-off or monthly data plans, and unlimitedNTT group, prices in euros, cheap 10 GB
Ubigi belongs to Transatel, a subsidiary of the NTT group, a mark of seriousness. Its prices are shown in euros, top-ups are done from the app, and it offers one-off plans, monthly plans and an unlimited option. In Vietnam, the best price per GB is €0.74/GB on the 50 GB plan, in the leading pack, and its 10 GB plan over 7 days is the cheapest in the comparison at that volume.
For this country, Ubigi does not state the carrier it uses before purchase. Support is by ticket, in English and French.
Pros
- NTT group subsidiary, prices in euros
- The cheapest 10 GB for a week, top-ups in the app
Cons
- Vietnamese carrier not stated before purchase
- Ticket-only support
- 6.9/10

5. Yesim
€0.93/GBLocal networksDaily, data and unlimited plansReusable eSIM, daily plans
Yesim, a Swiss provider, offers the widest range: daily plans, classic data plans up to 30 GB and an unlimited offer. The best price per GB falls to €0.93/GB, in the middle of the comparison.
The eSIM can be reused from one trip to the next, which saves a new install every time you leave. On the other hand, Yesim does not state which Vietnamese carrier it uses before purchase, and support is limited to chat.
Pros
- Reusable eSIM across several trips
- Daily and unlimited plans available
Cons
- Vietnamese carrier not stated before purchase
- Average price per GB, chat-only support
- 6.5/10

6. Saily

Saily is the eSIM from Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. The app is simple, with a built-in ad and tracker blocker and web protection, and the chat answers 24/7 in English.
In Vietnam, the best price per GB is €1.30/GB on the 20 GB plan, in the upper half of the comparison, with no carrier announced before purchase. For those who want the security layer above all.
Pros
- Built-in ad and tracker blocker
- 24/7 chat, unlimited available
Cons
- Price per GB in the upper half
- Carrier not stated before purchase

eSIM or local SIM card in Vietnam?
An eSIM connects you as soon as you land, with no queue at the counter. A local SIM from Viettel or Vinaphone can be bought at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang airports for a handful of euros, with tens of GB, but it requires showing your passport, is topped up in dong and makes you lose your usual SIM if your phone has a single slot. Grab, Google Maps and translation work with either: what matters is having data as soon as you step off the plane.
Our rule: eSIM for a stay under three weeks, a Viettel local SIM for a long stay or a motorbike loop in the north. And if you continue to Thailand or Bali, the same comparison exists for the best eSIM for Thailand and the best eSIM for Indonesia.
What to check on your phone before buying
Two conditions: an eSIM-compatible and carrier-unlocked phone. iPhones from the XR onwards and recent Pixel, Galaxy S and other models are; the full list is on our eSIM-compatible phones page. A phone bought subsidised from a carrier may still be locked: ask for the unlock before you leave. Vietnam switched off 2G at the end of 2024 and 5G is still recent: count on 4G everywhere, 5G in the big cities only.
Once the eSIM is installed, keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, turn off its data roaming, and turn on the Vietnam eSIM's data roaming on arrival. Every plan in the Vietnam comparator is sold by providers that display compatibility before purchase.
