Best eSIM for Mauritius in 2026: 6 providers compared

Grand Baie, Flic en Flac, Le Morne, Belle Mare or a catamaran to Île aux Cerfs: in Mauritius you need data for GPS on the inland roads, boat bookings, the Chamarel maps and the photos you send to whoever stayed home in the rain. A Mauritius eSIM installs before you leave, activates as you land at Plaisance and spares you the operator counter, where a tourist SIM asks for your passport and costs about thirty euros. You keep your home SIM for calls and texts.

The Mauritian trap is your home plan: the island is eleven hours from Paris and well outside any European zone, so data goes out of plan with most European operators the moment the plane touches down. We ran 6 providers through the same grid: price per GB, network used on the ground (my.t, Emtel or Chili), coverage on the beaches, inland and on the mountain roads, support, how simple the app and the activation are, and plan flexibility. The ranking first, then each offer in detail.

Best eSIM for Mauritius in 2026: 6 providers compared
The eSIMrat verdict#1 of 6
voilà eSIM

voilà eSIM: Emtel and my.t on one eSIM, and human support 24/7

7.7/10

The only provider here to state two Mauritian networks, Emtel and my.t, on a single eSIM, at €3.11/GB on the 10 GB plan, with a two-minute install from an app that is easy to use and human support reachable 24/7. It is not the lowest price per GB, but it is the strongest value for money on our criteria.

Price per GB : €3.11/GBNetwork : Emtel, my.t

How we ranked these eSIMs

Each eSIM is scored on six criteria, weighted for Mauritius. Price per GB and network coverage weigh the most. Three operators cover the island: my.t, the mobile network of Mauritius Telecom, Emtel, the first to launch local 5G, and Chili. The coast and the towns are very well covered, the mountainous interior and the Black River Gorges much less so, as the nPerf coverage map shows. On an island 65 by 45 kilometres, the difference between eSIMs therefore comes down to price, and to whether you know which network you land on. The scores are our editorial opinion, not an average of customer reviews.

  • Price per GB25 %

Cost per gigabyte on each provider's cheapest plan, excluding one-off promotions.

  • Network coverage25 %

Signal in Port Louis, Grand Baie, Flic en Flac, Le Morne and Belle Mare, on the inland roads and in the lagoons.

  • Reliability15 %

Connection stability, the partner operator's track record and the provider's reputation.

  • Support15 %

Channels available, hours, human or automated answers.

  • Activation and app10 %

How simple the install is, how clear the app is, data usage tracking.

  • Plan flexibility10 %

Choice of volumes and durations, unlimited, top-ups, tethering.

On these criteria, voilà eSIM comes out on top thanks to its two stated networks, its app and its human support around the clock, despite a price per GB of €3.11/GB that puts it fourth of six: Yesim, Ubigi and Airalo do better on price per GB alone, and every card says so. Yesim takes second place with the lowest price per GB and the most flexible unlimited. Ubigi is third, ten cents behind Yesim per GB, with the cheapest one-week unlimited.

Scores are the opinion of the eSIMrat editorial team, based on the criteria above, not customer reviews. eSIMrat earns a commission on links to its partners, which does not affect the ranking.

The eSIM ranking for Mauritius

The 6 eSIMs compared, from the best-scored to the lowest. The price per GB shown is that of each provider's cheapest plan per gigabyte, a 20 GB over 30 days at Yesim, a 10 GB at voilà eSIM and Esimzon: a small one-week plan costs two to three times more per GB. For Ubigi it comes from a 10 GB valid 7 days, the same volume over 30 days works out at €2.20 per GB.

Every Mauritius eSIM in detail

    1. voilà eSIM

    7.7/10
    €3.11/GBEmtel, my.tData plans, 1 to 20 GB, 7 to 30 days

Two Mauritian networks stated, human support 24/7

voilà eSIM is the only provider here to state two Mauritian networks on the same eSIM, Emtel and my.t, the two operators that share most of the island. The phone switches to whichever works best, which matters on the inland roads and in the south-west, towards Le Morne and Chamarel, where a single network is not always enough. The plan page states 3G and 4G depending on the local operators, not 5G, and tethering is unlimited.

On price, let us be clear: €3.11/GB on the 30-day 10 GB plan is the fourth price per GB of six, behind Yesim, Ubigi and Airalo. The range runs from 1 GB over 7 days at €4.10, the cheapest small plan in the comparison, to 20 GB over 30 days at €63.90. The ESIMRAT code gives 5% off, on the promo codes page, which improves the value for money without changing the per-GB order.

What makes the difference is the rest: the eSIM installs in two minutes from an app that is easy to use, with top-ups and usage tracking in the same place, the brand states "zero blocked apps" and a refund if something goes wrong, and human support answers 24/7. With the time difference, that means someone on the line when you land at Plaisance at dawn on a Sunday.

    Pros

    • Emtel and my.t stated on the same eSIM, the only provider here to name two networks
    • 1 GB over 7 days at €4.10, the cheapest small plan, unlimited tethering
    • eSIM simple to install, app easy to use, human support 24/7

    Cons

    • Fourth price per GB of six, behind Yesim, Ubigi and Airalo
    • No unlimited plan, 5G not stated
  2. Yesim

    2. Yesim

    7.5/10
€1.80/GBLocal networksData plans 1 to 20 GB, unlimited from 1 to 30 days

The lowest price per GB, unlimited sold day by day

Yesim has the lowest price per GB in the comparison: €1.80/GB on its 30-day 20 GB plan, at €36, and its 10 GB at €24 stays below every competing 10 GB. On price alone, it wins in Mauritius, and by a wide margin on large volumes.

Its second strength is unlimited sold day by day: €5 for 24 hours, €15 for three days, €35 for a week, €79 for a month. You pay exactly the length of your stay, ten days of unlimited cost €42.50, no more, no less. It is the cheapest unlimited here over a month and on very short stays.

The limits: the provider does not state which Mauritian operator it uses before purchase, and support is limited to chat. The eSIM can be reused from one trip to the next, which avoids a new install next time.

    Pros

    • The lowest price per GB in the comparison, on 20 GB
    • Unlimited sold day by day, from €5 for 24 hours to €79 a month, reusable eSIM

    Cons

    • Mauritian operator not stated before purchase
    • Chat-only support
  3. Ubigi

    3. Ubigi

    7.3/10
€1.90/GBLocal networksData plans, 1 to 10 GB, and unlimited 7 or 15 days

The cheapest one-week unlimited, euros and French support

Ubigi belongs to Transatel, a subsidiary of the NTT group. In Mauritius its best price per GB, €1.90/GB, comes from a 10 GB valid 7 days at €19: the same volume over 30 days costs €22, or €2.20 per GB, which still leaves it ahead of Airalo, voilà eSIM, Esimzon and Saily. Prices are shown in euros, top-ups happen in the app and support answers by ticket, in French.

Its real argument is the 7-day unlimited at €29, the cheapest in the comparison over a week, ahead of Airalo and Yesim. The 15-day at €55 holds up too. On the other hand, the data catalogue stops at 10 GB, there is no 30-day unlimited, and the Mauritian operator is not stated before purchase.

    Pros

    • 7-day unlimited at €29, the cheapest in the comparison over a week
    • Prices in euros, top-ups in the app, ticket support in French

    Cons

    • Best price per GB comes from a 7-day plan, data catalogue capped at 10 GB
    • Mauritian operator not stated before purchase, no 30-day unlimited
  4. Airalo

    4. Airalo

    7.1/10
€1.63/GBLocal networksData plans 1 to 20 GB, unlimited from 3 to 30 days

The most complete app, unlimited at every duration

Airalo, the market pioneer, has the most complete app of the six, with top-ups and usage tracking, and a choice of durations nobody else matches on data plans: 3, 7, 15 and 30 days for almost every volume. Its price per GB drops to €1.63/GB on the 15-day 20 GB, third in the comparison.

On unlimited it covers every duration, from €21.50 for 3 days to €88 for 30 days, but Yesim beats it on short stays and over a month, and Ubigi over a week. It does not state the Mauritian operator on this destination, and its support, in English, can be slow.

    Pros

    • Complete app, built-in top-ups, durations from 3 to 30 days on almost every volume
    • Unlimited available from 3 to 30 days

    Cons

    • Mauritian operator not stated before purchase
    • Unlimited pricier than Yesim and Ubigi at every duration, support in English
  5. Esimzon

    5. Esimzon

    6.6/10
    €3.61/GBmy.t (Cellplus)Data plans 1 to 15 GB, 30 days

The my.t network named on every plan, 4G

Esimzon is a prepaid reseller that states its operator on every plan: here Cellplus Mobile Mauritius, the mobile network of my.t, on 4G. With voilà eSIM, it is the only provider here that tells you which Mauritian network you will land on before you pay, and my.t is the island's widest network.

The price does not follow: €3.61/GB on the 10 GB, fifth price per GB of six, nearly double Yesim. All its plans run 30 days, which is comfortable, but there is no unlimited and no short duration, prices are shown in dollars on its site (the euro follows the day's rate) and support runs by email or chat, in English.

    Pros

    • my.t network named on every plan, 4G
    • All plans valid 30 days, 1 GB at €4.30 as a backup

    Cons

    • Fifth price per GB of six, nearly double Yesim
    • No unlimited, prices shown in dollars, support in English
  6. Saily

    6. Saily

    6.0/10
    €5.30/GBLocal networksData plans 1 to 5 GB, 7 or 30 days

Ad and tracker blocker, chat 24/7

Saily is the eSIM from Nord Security, the maker of NordVPN. The app is simple, with an ad and tracker blocker and built-in web protection, and chat answers 24/7 in English. On a hotel wifi in Grand Baie, that is a real plus.

The price is much less so: €5.30/GB on the 5 GB plan, the highest price per GB in the comparison, almost triple Yesim. Its Mauritius catalogue is limited to three plans, 1, 3 and 5 GB, with no unlimited and no large volume, and it does not state the Mauritian operator before purchase.

    Pros

    • Built-in ad and tracker blocker, chat 24/7
    • Simple app, short one-week plan

    Cons

    • The highest price per GB in the comparison, almost triple the first
    • Three plans only, 5 GB maximum, no unlimited

Does your home plan work in Mauritius?

Rarely without extra charges. Mauritius is far from every European operator's Europe zone, and data there goes out of plan, or through a paid option, with most of them. The best-known exception in France is Free Mobile, but only on its Forfait Free Max: the island is absent from the Forfait Free 5G+, as we detail in our article on the countries included with Free Mobile. Before you leave, open your customer account and check the exact roaming zone of your plan, not the plan next to it.

If your plan does not include Mauritius, turn off data roaming on your home line before landing and let the eSIM do the work. Keep the home line active to receive your bank's texts, it costs nothing as long as data stays off. And mind the time difference: the island is two hours ahead of Paris in summer, three in winter, which matters when you are waiting for a verification code sent at a precise time.

eSIM or Mauritian tourist SIM?

A tourist SIM remains possible, and it is well designed: my.t sells a 5G Tourist SIM at €30 including VAT for 30 days of unlimited 5G data, with a small calling credit, to pre-book online with your passport number and collect at the airport counter or in a shop; Emtel has a similar tourist offer. Two constraints. Passport registration is mandatory for every SIM in Mauritius, so a form and ID at the counter. And if your phone has a single slot, you lose your home line for the length of the stay.

A travel eSIM is bought online, installed before departure and costs, in this comparison, between €1.80 and €5.30 per GB. You keep your home line for calls and texts, with no counter and no passport to show. Our rule: eSIM for a one- to three-week stay, tourist SIM if you stay a full month, if you really use data without counting, or if you need a Mauritian number to book a catamaran by phone.

What to check on your phone before buying

Two conditions: a phone that is eSIM compatible and carrier unlocked. iPhones from the XR onwards and recent Pixel, Galaxy S and other models are; the full list is on our eSIM compatible phones page. A phone bought subsidised from an operator may still be locked: ask for the unlock before you leave.

Once the eSIM is installed, keep your home SIM active for calls and texts, turn off its data roaming, and turn on the Mauritius eSIM's on arrival. The coast, Port Louis, Grand Baie and Flic en Flac are very well covered; the mountainous interior, the Black River Gorges and some corners of the south keep gaps, so download your maps offline before taking the road to Chamarel. Every plan in the Mauritius comparator is sold by providers that show compatibility before purchase. And if your flight stops over in the Gulf, the same comparison exists for the best eSIM for Dubai and the best eSIM for Turkey.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best eSIM for Mauritius?
On our criteria, voilà eSIM: it is the only provider in the comparison to state two Mauritian networks, Emtel and my.t, on the same eSIM, with an eSIM that is simple to install, an app that is easy to use and human support 24/7. Its price per GB, €3.11 on the 10 GB, is only fourth of six. For the lowest price per GB, Yesim wins with 20 GB at €36, and for unlimited, Ubigi is the cheapest over a week, at €29, Yesim over a month, at €79.
How much does an eSIM for Mauritius cost?
Between €1.80 and €5.30 per GB depending on the provider, on 10 to 20 GB plans. A small one-week plan costs two to three times more per gigabyte, the cheapest 1 GB being €4.10. Unlimited is paid by the day: €5 for 24 hours, €29 a week from the cheapest, €79 a month.
Is Mauritius included in European mobile plans?
With most operators, no: the island is outside the Europe zone and data there goes out of plan or through a paid option. In France, Free Mobile includes it only on its Forfait Free Max, not on the Forfait Free 5G+. Check the exact roaming zone of your plan in your customer account, and turn off data roaming on your home line if Mauritius is not listed.
Which mobile network should you choose in Mauritius?
Three operators cover the island: my.t, the Mauritius Telecom network, the widest, Emtel, the first to launch 5G, and Chili. The coast and the towns are very well covered by the first two, the mountainous interior less so. An eSIM that uses two networks, like voilà eSIM with Emtel and my.t, limits the gaps; Esimzon states my.t alone, the other providers do not specify the operator before purchase.
Do you need a passport for a SIM card in Mauritius?
Yes: registering every SIM to an identified person is mandatory in Mauritius, and the tourist offers from my.t and Emtel are pre-booked with your passport number and then collected at the airport counter or in a shop, ID in hand. A travel eSIM is bought online before departure, with no local registration, and activates by itself on arrival.
Does the eSIM work everywhere in Mauritius?
On the coast, in the towns and on the main roads, yes, 4G is everywhere and 5G is arriving in dense areas. The gaps are in the mountainous interior, around the Black River Gorges, on some southern beaches and at sea. Download your maps offline before a day in Chamarel or a catamaran trip, and if you go through Rodrigues, check the plan page: not all of them list it.
